Richard Hollingum connects good people so great things can happen.

Richard is the founder of internationally known and awarded design and communication firm, The Department of Doing - www.departmentofdoing.com

He has has over 23 years experience in the Advertising and Marketing Industry working for companies such as Saatchi and Saatchi, Ogilvy and Mather, Publicis and Europe’s leading Advertising Agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty working on award winning accounts such as Levis and Hugo Boss whilst helping establish offices in New York and Singapore before moving to New Zealand in 1995 to work for the Campaign Palace in Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne.

Richard has won many creative awards and been instrumental in DOD becoming one New Zealand's leading creative companies.

When he is not heading up one of the worlds leading creative ‘execution’ companies he is an international speaker at conferences in locations as diverse as London, Lisbon, Singapore, Sydney and Sao Paolo.

He is also a member of The Future Department, an english based organisation and a regular TEDster at the TED conferences in California.

Richard also contributes towards the mentoring scheme at the local boys high school encouraging and enabling our future generations to “do”.

He is also co-author of the newly published book How Not To Do Things - The Corporate Saboteurs Guidebook.

Tricia Hollingum
The Department of Doing Ltd -  Project Manager


Tricia makes things happen.

She has extensive international experience working as an Art Buyer and Producer in the Direct Marketing and Advertising industry and has played a crucial role in the ongoing success of the Department of Doing since 1999.


In her time she has had many diverse roles including a photographic assistant and even started off life as a paste up artist, compiling Arabic Yellow pages! (we all have to start somewhere)


With her love of making things happen, Tricia has always headed up organizational committees wherever she has worked, with her biggest coup hosting 400 people, in fancy dress, at  Madame Tussauds in London. Imagine the insurance she had to pay!!


Tricia continues to run community based projects and hosts a weekly art group for like minded artists who need a place to paint and drink wine.
