TEDx Auckland 2010 is an opportunity for  leading visionaries and storytellers to speak to an amazing group of thinkers and doers, as well as to the world at large.

At this event, a curated group of changemakers, innovators, thinkers, creatives, cultural leaders & social pioneers will witness a back-to-back schedule of talks, performances and other multimedia surprises showcasing “Ideas Worth Spreading and doing” from a carefully selected group of presenters whom the event organisers (and their networks) feel have something valuable to contribute.

Each talk will be centred around our core theme for the day. WHAT IF? Two small words but when put together, become very powerful.

When:
Sunday 26th September  2010 from 10:00AM (Registration from 8.30 AM)

Where:
Westlake Boys High School Campus, North Shore City, Auckland

TEDxAuckland will take place inside and around the Westlake Boys High School Campus. The team from TEDxAuckland believe that inspiration and ideas can come from anywhere but the main seat for learning comes from within our schools. Schools are our future and we believe that there is no better place to hold TEDxAuckland than at truly inspirational place of learning, Westlake Boys High School.

Westlake Boys High School
Forrest Hill Road, North Shore City,  Westlake 0620. Auckland

What:

A full day’s worth of speaker presentations and live performances will be simulcast to online individuals and self-organised groups located throughout New Zealand, and indeed the rest of the world. Everyone involved (live participants, simulcast watchers in the “Westlakers Tent”, and remotely-located webstream viewers) will be encouraged to discuss the ideas and themes that develop throughout the day. These will be documented in real time and online via aggregated social media commentary.
Each presentation will be filmed using multiple cameras for editing and uploading to various video content websites after the event. The best of the presentations  will be submitted to our partners at TED in New York for consideration as TED Talks and potential posting to TED.com, translation into multiple languages for the fast-expanding and global TED.com community.
TEDxAuckland will establish an ongoing pipeline for the propagation of New Zealand’s “Ideas Worth Spreading and Doing” to the widest possible global audience.

For Whom:

Attendance at TEDxAuckland will be by ticket only. As space is limited only a small number of people are able to participate as members of the TEDxAuckland audience so this year have had to restrict the numbers to 600 people, with a large proportion of youth and students.  Entry is by ticket only, tickets are now available via Ticketek.

The entry fee for TEDxAuckland is NZ$100 (adults).

Our Vision:

TEDxAuckland has been established by The Department of Doing Ltd as a  Non for Profit organization through  the  Rennaissance Aotearoa Foundation, a charitable Trust. Our vision for TEDxAuckland is an event that’s even bigger and broader than the Ideas Worth Spreading you’ll see on the main stage.
The interest in TEDxAuckland has been overwhelming and it’s literally not possible to contain within the four walls of the Westlake Boys High School.
If you cannot make it to TEDxAuckland do not worry you’re still invited! Join us online on Sunday 26th September 2010 to be part of a special live community event.
Our aim is to inspire and empower individuals -young and old, organizations – large and small and communities - online and offline to share ideas. Ideas worth doing and make them happen.
